Notes
How Much Marmite Should You Use?
If you’re making Cheese and Marmite Scones instead of regular cheese scones, chances are you already enjoy the unique taste of Marmite. That said, how much you use really depends on your personal taste.
As a reference point, we’re big Marmite fans and found that 3 tablespoons gave the scones a bold, rich flavor we loved. Interestingly, a friend who tried them didn’t immediately notice the Marmite — they just described them as “nicely savoury.” So, the ideal amount can vary widely!
For this recipe, we suggest mixing in 2 tablespoons of Marmite initially, then swirling in 1 more tablespoon at the end for extra depth and those signature Marmite ripples. If you’re unsure about the intensity, feel free to skip the final swirl — it adds noticeable pockets of flavor that really stand out when you bite into them.
